A Red Wine Spill on your Carpet
Oops. Red wine is a notorious carpet killer.
Not to worry Geraldton people. If you haven't had too many to drink, you'll be able to follow these instructions and hopefully minimalise or eliminate the damage.
Step One: Blot, don't rub
You want to as quickly as possible BLOT the spill with a clean, dry cloth to remove most of the spillage. DO NOT rub the carpet. Rubbing just spreads the liquid around and imbeds it into the carpet fibres. Rubbing can also damage your carpet.
Step Two: Salt
Salt. Who knew? Sprinkle table salt over the spill and wait a few minutes. Salt is supposed to absorb both the moisture and colour. You may find the area turns a bit pink. Vacuum the salt and the stain SHOULD be gone.
Step Three if you need it: Bicarb
Mix sodium bicarbonate (also called baking soda) in a cup of water to form a semi liquidyy paste mix. Pour this mixture over the stain. Blot it up again. Start blotting with a very absorbant sponge, then follow with a clean, dry white cloth. The stain SHOULD be gone.
If you're having more troubles, we suggest you ring your local carpet cleaner. If you need a recommendation give us a call on 08 9964 4233.
